Miss. Black Atlanta USA Pageant
In October, I was selected as a contestant for this year’s pageant Miss. Black Atlanta USA. I was granted with the opportunity to compete against young, intelligent, and beautiful black women and was blessed to receive 3rd runner-up. My personal platform was entitled “ A Voice for Those Who Cry for Help” which I strongly emphasized on the country Haiti, about its destruction, corruption and chaos. But at the same time, bringing in realization to the people that “It’s the first black independent country in the world, yet now the poorest in the western-hemisphere.”

“A Message from Pops”
This past weekend, I was casted as a feature in a SAG short film titled “A Message from Pops” directed by Ed Banuel. The character I portrayed was a ghetto-fabulous neighbor. This heartwarming drama is about the life of a young black man that encounters the daily struggle of living and surviving in the ghetto. Trying his hardest to become what everyone around him ends up being, but the battle seems to be over before it began when his worst is the police. With countless efforts in trying to prevail, it seems as if he’ll never escape the life of prison his father had or not until he hears “A Massage from Pops”

“The Diary of a Mad Black Women”
About a couple of months ago, I was driving in downtown Atlanta on my way to Justin’s Restaurant. I got lost (as usual) and pulled over on the side of the street to ask a young man for directions. After instructing me on how to head back to the direction that I already passed 6 times, he asked me if I wanted to get in a movie. “What movie?” I asked. “The movie set that you just pulled into the middle of” he answered. I looked up and saw that I was surrounded by big movie trucks with lights, huge camera things and the same type of technical equipment that I saw on the making of Jurassic Park. “Of course” I answered. “Well, since your on your way out to Justin’s, when will you be available?” he asked. “I got leftovers in the fridge, Justin’s won’t miss me tonight, they will still be there tomorrow.” I answered while freshening up my makeup and and brushing my hair.
To make a long story short, the movie was titled “A Diary of a Mad Black Women” directed/written/produced by the well-known Tyler Perry.
Also starring actors Shamar Moore (from soap opera“Young in the Restless”), Steve Harris (from “The Minority Project ,” “LYPD,” Bring Down the House”) and actress Kimberely Elise (from “Set it Off,” “Manachurian Candidate,” “John Q”) I ended up being featured in four different scenes and met some really good people. This is just an example of the infamous saying “Being at the right place, at the right time”
